Intellectual Property, Key To Unlocking A Green Future

Demand for intellectual property rights is growing at a faster rate than the global economy, according to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Its data show that 3.17 million patent applications were filed in 2017, up to six per cent on the previous year. WIPO Admits Nigerian NGO As Permanent Observer

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), an organ of the United Nations has just admitted Nigerian NGO, Friends of the Creators Artistic Foundation (FCF) as a permanent observer. The decision was reached on Wednesday at the ongoing WIPO meeting taking place in Geneva with over 1,000 delegates from its 192 member-states in attendance. Foundation Seeks Legislation To Protect Intellectual Property

Friends of the Creator Foundation (FCF), has called for legislation to protect the intellectual property rights of actors and actresses in the entertainment industry in Nigeria. Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), of the intellectual property rights protection group, made the call in a statement made available to the Nigeria News Agency on Monday in Warri. Ifowodo said that such a legislation would pave the way for stakeholders in the industry to reap the fruits of their labour.
